Moscow Increasingly Targeting Trains as Strikes on Ukrainian Rail Network Escalate
Based on statements from a top Ukrainian government authority, attacks on the Ukrainian train infrastructure have increased threefold since the summer as Russian forces attempts to cripple one of the nation's vital logistical networks.

Infrastructure authorities report that assaults on the train system since the beginning of 2025 have led to losses reaching approximately $1 billion.
"If you compare just the last three months, attacks have increased by 300 percent," stated the official. "Beginning with the beginning of the 2025 there have been 800 attacks on rail networks, and more than 3,000 train facilities have been affected."

"It was darkness and everyone was resting," recalled the terminal director. "I was awakened from the massive blast because I live very close to the facility. It happened at 2:44 am."
The director explained that the facility's strategic position as a key connection location – connecting several important cities – made it a key focus for strikers.

Railway staff indicate that present dangers remain substantial, with strikers progressively attacking places where civilians assemble, rail tracks, engines, and high-voltage lines.
