Football Analyst Sutton Takes On Singer Murs in Premier League Predictions
Arsenal's 10-game winning streak was ended by the Black Cats before the international hiatus, however can the English top division leaders bounce back against north London rivals Spurs this weekend?
"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked soccer expert Chris Sutton.
"Frank will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still manage to win."
Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, against artificial intelligence, readers and a range of special visitors.
In the twelfth round, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.
Murs' latest record, Knees Up, is out on the weekend.
Soccer and Family Experiences
Murs is a talented footballer as well as a accomplished artist and has been a featured player of multiple Soccer Aid games down the years - but he is not intending a professional return as a footballer.
"{I recently played in a charity match the other night for a friend of mine," he said. "My team was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!
"I continue to love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it seriously again.
"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my child or boy chooses to play instead."
Murs and his wife his partner have two children, Madison and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.
"I will not push football on our kids but I've previously told my wife that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be coaching their Saturday soccer team," he said.
"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously owned a soccer team for a period too.
"My dad coached with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I get it from. He coached our team for several years and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Premier League Predictions
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues might have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's comeback from fitness issues but their offense is now more potent with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.
In my opinion this fixture will be fairly tight, though. The Clarets are well organised and their only at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.
This suggests a 1-1 draw to me, but I am in fact going to go with Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.
Sutton's forecast: 1-2
The singer's prediction: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3
AI's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have lost their past two games - although both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which shocked me.
In contrast, West Ham won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they do look strong again.
The Hammers' only on the road victory this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo was still that team's manager.
So, what on earth do I predict here - will it be the Hammers extending their run under their manager, or Bournemouth bouncing back?
I will go with the Cherries, because I think what happened against Villa was a blip.
Sutton's forecast: 2-0
Olly's outlook: The home team are doing well but West Ham have picked up under Nuno. 2-2
AI's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were seen as one of the frontrunners for the drop before the campaign began, but they have surprised a several observers under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three wins in their past four games.
A family member advised me to get Brentford striker Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.
The forward will probably find the net again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to select him or back Brentford at Brighton's ground.
The Bees have not had great success on the road this term, and the Seagulls are always strong at their stadium. The visitors will try to hit them on the counter-attack but I feel the home manager's team carry much more of a threat.
Sutton's forecast: 2-1
The singer's prediction: It could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a lot of scores but it in reality turns out to be quite tight. 1-1
AI's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a massive game for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six matches.
Fulham have got lots of quality in their team but it nonetheless seems like they could be sucked into a drop zone fight.
As for Sunderland, indeed they are the surprise package of the Premier League campaign so far.
The away side's display in the 2-2 tie with Arsenal last time out was superb. We've not witnessed anyone else disrupt the Gunners like that this term, and they were more than a match for them.
The logical choice to do to support the Black Cats here, because they are clearly able of disrupting the hosts up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they defeated the Blues at the close of October.
But I am not do that. Instead, I really need to continue opposing the away team with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of credit for their positive outcomes because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.
Looking at the home side's home record, the only team they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Marco Silva's team will be absolutely desperate for a positive outcome, so I am going to say they will pick up three much-needed points.
Sutton's prediction: 1-0
Olly's choice: I know Sunderland are doing well and additionally that Fulham are on a bad run... but Fulham have nonetheless been decent at home this campaign. 2-0
The algorithm's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
It is a hard fixture to call. The Reds have suffered seven of their past 10 matches in all competitions, but could they be among the sides who benefit from the {international break|
