Fans Demand Detainment of Person Who Seized Ariana Grande
Devoted followers of the pop star are urging that a person who jumped a fence and touched the celebrity during Thursday's Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or deported from Singapore.
A circulating clip depicts the individual from Australia shoving aside media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the performers walked down a yellow carpet surrounded by supporters.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo quickly wrested the shocked performer away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being led away of the premiere by event staff.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "let go after being detained", though legal records indicated that he was set to be present on the following morning. It is not clear if he was charged.
Record of Event Invasions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has invaded a concert or event. His Instagram feed contains clips of him interrupting other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney concert in June this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers event in the area last December.
"Steps should be implemented enforced against him as this is obviously a criminal offence," wrote an Instagram commenter, in a response to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his actions.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" one Instagram user wrote.
Followers Show Disapproval Over the Star's Past Trauma
Several followers blamed Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed experiencing trauma-related anxiety after a devastating incident at the conclusion of her 2017 performance in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and injuring numerous individuals.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said another comment on Instagram.
Some attendees also questioned security officers at the gathering for not being adequately prepared; while others called for digital services to block Mr Wen's uploads.
Reaction and Event Details
In clips shared widely, Grande appeared shocked when she was grabbed by the man. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted consoling her while Mr Wen was removed by guards.
Grande has not issued a statement on the incident, and the premiere activities continued without further issues.
Numerous of supporters had assembled in a mass of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good international debut in a Singapore shopping center, including a number who had queued for as long as eight hours before it commenced.
The film, to be premiered on 21 November, is the sequel of a two-part interpretation of the well-known theatrical musical Wicked, which focuses on the surprising relationship between two very different witches.
The musical itself is a adaptation of the classic children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the good witch Glinda, was dressed in a champagne pink sequin dress at the gathering while Erivo, who plays the villainous character, wore a black tube gown embroidered with roses.
They were alongside cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the most successful movie of 2024 in the UK, and received a dozen Oscar nominations, securing several for best costume and artistic direction.
