Beloved Performer Pat Finn, Recognized For Appearances in The Middle and Friends, Dies at 60 Years Old.
American entertainer Pat Finn, who was seen in popular programs like Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has passed away at the age of 60.
The comedy and improvisation performer passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California this Monday following treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, per news outlets.
"He never met a stranger - just potential friends he had yet to meet," his relatives stated in a statement.
They noted that he had "lived his life fully - with joy and exuberance".
An Extensive TV Career
His debut TV appearance was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he played the brother of the main character.
He also had a regular part on "Murphy Brown" between 1995 and 1997.
He appeared as Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, depicting a social organizer famous for delegating burdensome jobs to his guests.
During the late 1990s and early 2000s, he made guest appearances on several popular shows, such as:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House
Finn was perhaps best known for portraying the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight series between 2011 and 2018.
His work in movies include "It's Complicated" and "Santa Paws 2".
A Life in Improv
Outside of his acting parts, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and served as an educator at the Colorado university, where he was a professor.
He was part of a six-person improv troupe named Beer Shark Mice.
"He taught, supported, and inspired countless students throughout the years and it would be difficult to find someone anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.
Offering condolences, peer Richard Kind noted there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, authentic human being you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, helping you be funnier and better. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote on social media.
Finn is leaves behind his wife Donna, his children, and his family.
