Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's understandable for concerns to be asked about his future after another heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in twelve matches, marking the team's poorest streak after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received plenty of backing from above,” Slot remarked.

“It would be nice to turn it around and secure a win naturally but when you're in a managerial role and struggling then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He added, “I accept my position. It is not the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his discussions with the team officials, Slot revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don’t call me constantly each day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “In the normal discussions I perceive the trust. However I've not talked to them after this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Familiar Failings and Squad Response

The manager lamented recurring failings from his team in their Champions League loss, namely wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a period such as this with performances this poor.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And until it is gone, we’re always going to battle.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to where it needs to be, prove again what this club is about and why it's known as the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
